Every woman with an opinion on the internet is doing a second job she never applied for: moderating the reaction to her own existence.
Post a take on cricket, get a lecture. Post a joke, get a correction. Post nothing, and someone asks why you're so quiet. The comment section is an office where the hours are endless and the salary is exposure — to harassment.
And yet women stay online, louder than ever. Not because the abuse doesn't matter, but because leaving would mean the trolls were right about whose voice belongs here.
The least the rest of us can do is stop treating that persistence like it's free.
